Hi, I'm Joel Seay

After 30+ years of working in corporate America and running operations for various companies, I decided to shift gears and begin running my own company. Thus the start of Focus Bookkeeping Services.

During my career, I relied on using financial data to efficiently, and profitably, run businesses in various industries (transportation, logistics, construction, home services, and staffing). Income Statements (P&L’s), Balance Sheets, and Statement of Cash Flows were my friends. I used these financial reports to review the health of the business, to analyze trends, and to make decisions on how best to operate and grow the business. Knowing the numbers, and understanding where they came from and what impact they had on the business, was absolutely essential.

In order to dig into the numbers, I spent a great deal of time with CFO’s, Controllers, Accountants, and Bookkeepers. I worked with them to fully understand the details and processes of accounting. I wanted to know how the “books” were put together. 

My goal at Focus Bookkeeping Services is to assist business owners in growing and becoming more profitable in their businesses. I do this by taking the stress and burden of handling the books off the business owner’s shoulders. I Focus on their books, so that they can Focus on growing their business. I provide them with timely and accurate financial data, so that they can make sound decisions in running their business. And beyond handling the books, I use my years of experience to act as a trusted advisor to the business owner. I review the financial data and statements with them to assess the health of their business, to identify and analyze trends, and to help them get into the optimum position to make sound decisions on how best to operate and grow their business.
